privacy concerns

I am administrating a blog for my 9 year old daughter (talesfromgu11.com). I purchased the domain through wordpress but I realize now I really need password protection on the whole blog, not just individual posts, on account of her age. I don’t want people to have to be registered wordpress users to view content. What are my options? Can I host the site myself and download wordpress with plugins? Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If creating a private site and having visitors create WordPress.com accounts doesn’t work for you, a self hosted site is your next best option. Here’s info on how to move to a self hosted site.

Let me know if you have any more questions or get stuck along the way.
