privacy? i know it sounds like a stupid question, but could you read please

I know the principle of the privacy option, as only named users can access/ view my blog. Now
– does this mean everybody I want to see my blog needs to a registered user at wordpress?
– i just want these users to view posts and post comments, is this how the privacy options work? Thanks in advance!

Simple answers:
yes and yes.
They need to be registered, they can just have an account, not a full blog. Anyone that you allow access will be able to read and comment. Any more than that will require you changing their status in your dashboard.

I really wish that there was more explanation of this in the FAQ. It doesn’t tell me HOW these people I’ve added as users have to be identified so that they can see the blog.
Is it an email? Should it be their wordpress ID?More details would help!!!

If you have a private blog you can go to your Admin => Users => and then do some invites which will send an invite to your blog through email. It will be through their email address and then if they accept the invite, they can choose whatever username they want and will be added to your blog.
