Privacy Invited Access to Blog

  Would someone please explain the privacy settings. I’m still working on my blog, but would like one person to have access to it so they can see on line. I have invited him per the privacy setting which allows you to invite up to 35 people. Basically, all I entered was his name. How does that allow him access to the blog online. I don’t want to have to give out my password. I just don’t get the concept. Please explain.
