privacy of my personal information
-
I entered in my personal information, name, address, phone number and tried to review the information for keeping that private ($8 fee) when I went to the area, the total fees were $16 due to other additions, I can’t get back there now and is that what I need to do to keep my information private. I appreciate your quick response so as to keep my personal information private.
Thank you,

Your personal information is not released publicly with a free wordpress.com account or blog.
You do not have to buy any upgrade to keep your personal info private. I wonder if you were looking at something about a domain name registration / upgrade?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/
or perhaps this:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-a-domain/If you don’t have a domain yet but you want one, you’ve come to the right place. You can register a new domain with (or without, if you prefer) the private registration option.
Domain Registration is a paid upgrade that costs $18.00 per domain, per blog, per year. The optional private registration upgrade is an additional $8.00 per domain per year.
I’m not sure what other upgrade which would make you total cost be $16?
Did you intend to buy the domain mapping upgrade? If not, then you certainly don’t need to have the $8 fee for private registration of the mapping.

Do you want to make your blog private so that only folks you invite can read it?
Currently http://capitaldistrictavs.wordpress.com/ is public and visible to anyone who has a link to it. (note: you have deleted the “placeholder” post so it says there is nothing to find.)Privacy settings:

There is also this support article about privacy policies on wordpress.com:

http://automattic.com/privacy/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/private-information/But none of this is a paid upgrade: it is standard policy for free hosted wordpress.com blogs.

Hi there,
We at WordPress.com take the privacy of your personal information very seriously. You can read our Privacy Policy at http://automattic.com/privacy/.
As Tess said, the $8 charge is for users who want to register a custom domain name privately. If you are not purchasing a custom domain for your site then you don’t need this upgrade.
Tess has given you a lot of good information here, do you still have any questions I can help you with?
Best!
