Privacy – only users that choose
-
I have configured my blog to use the privacy option “I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose.” I have added no users, thinking that only I would be able to see the blog. What has actually happened is that users are now presented with a login page, once they login they are able to view the blog – even though I have not specified them as users on the privacy page. Also if i wanted to add users in the privacy page what do i supply in the field next to add user – just their wordpress username? Thanks

I logged in as a regular user.
I go to http://dipam.wordpress.com
I see:
“This blog is using WordPress.com’s private blog feature. You’re logged in, but don’t have access to this blog. You may contact the blog administrator to gain access.”

Just the username.

ok, it works for users who have not been registered on the blog like yourself. It doesn’t work for users who have been registered on the blog but have not been given access via the privacy page ie doesnt matter what users u give acccess to via the privacy page, all registered users will be able to access the blog.

If you allow me to be a registered user then you are allowing me to post to your blog. If I can post to your blog, that is I can get to the admin, then why would I not be allowed to see the actual blog?
If you give someone a role on your blog then I don’t see why you would want them to not see it. It makes no sense.
