Privacy Policy

    Hi,

I have a basic account (don’t pay a monthly fee) and am concerned that I require a Privacy Policy page on my wordpress website.

However, when I go to my WordPress dashboard and go to my settings area, there doesn’t seem to be a privacy tab and hence no privacy policy option. Therefore I’m wondering, considering the nature of this account (basic), whether this is a requirement?
If so, please can you direct me to where I need to go to update. Thank you.

    Kind Regards

  • Hi there,

You may want to consider adding the “Cookies and Consents Banner Widget” to your site, which adds a dismissable banner to the bottom of your site, which shows for new visitors.

By default it is set up like the ‘cookie consent’ banner you see on most sites these days, but you can customize it to make it a privacy policy banner instead. If you create a custom privacy policy page on your site, you can link to it in your banner so new visitors are sure to be informed.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Jerry,

I have a basic account and it seems that to add the Cookies Consents Banner Widget requires an upgrade and monthly payment… Is there any other way to do this on the Basic account or is this a limitation? I would have thought this would have to be included as a Basic account option, considering the legal requirements.

    Kind Regards

    Jane

  • Currently it does require a paid plan to add: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
