Privacy protection

Privacyprotect.org provides free protection for whois search. How do I avail it for domains registered / mapped through WordPress?

Whether you can have privacy protection or not will depend on your domain registrar. Apparently, WordPress does not offer this service:
Q: All of my personal details are visible when someone does a WHOIS lookup on my domain. Can I change to a private domain registration?
A: No. Our domain reseller account does not have this option. If you wait 60 days after the date when the domain was registered, you can transfer it to another registrar that supports private domain registrations. You need to transfer your domain to a different registrar (who supports privacy protection) in order to do this.

This H****S*** and really unprofessional. What legitimate registrar doesn’t offer privacy protection? It should also be noted that once a domain is registered through WordPress, the help file in the domain management interface gives every impression that this option is available.
Two weeks in and I’ve already decided I will never do business with WordPress ever again. Any company that doesn’t respect my privacy doesn’t deserve my money.

Thanks wpvstp for the clarification.
raincoaster, you do pay $15 per year for domain mapping but don’t get any privacy protection from wordpress!

venkyb, you might want to keep in mind that not everyone has purchased their domain from wordpress.
