  I am trying to figure out why it says that the privacy protection is 8$ per year but when I click to add it to pay it charges me 79$?

  Privacy protection for domain registration information is not the same things as making a site private https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/. Are you clear on that?

  Yes, I do not want my site to be private. I don’t want my personal info everywhere so website makers have the option to contact me 24/7. That has been happening for the past couple days.

  Hi @jaimepryorphoto, it sounds like you’re also upgrading your site. You do need a plan to add a domain, but the personal plan will work. Then when you add a domain you can enable privacy without an extra charge.

  Try heading here first:
  https://wordpress.com/plans

  Then when you’ve bought a plan, go to https://wordpress.com/domains to register a private name.
