Privacy setting not showing users
-
I made my blog private using the privacy settingsand type in a user name, add the user, save and the name doesn’t show up. Tried two different computers and two different browsers.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Same problem here. My users do not have a WordPress.com ID. Is that a problem? If so, where can I find the solution to it? (Other than forcing 35 people with no interest in a blog of their own to sign up to WordPress?

Did the users already have WordPress.com ID’s?
If they do not have a WordPress.com ID, then you can invite them via email but they will then need to register with WordPress.com. There is no way around this for a private blog.

Your users do not have to sign up for a blog; they can get just an account.
WordPress needs to have a way to recognize who your users are, otherwise your blog would be accessible to everyone: it uses there account-email address to see who is trying to read your private blog.

I would think there would be a way to make a list of all the users so that, when they go to the site, they type in their email address and can access the site.
Is something like this possible at wordpress and if not, is there
another site that offers that option? -
@bdunmore22
That’s not available to us here and I’m not aware of any other site where registration of a username account is not required to view “private” blogs. -
they type in their email address and can access the site<blockquote/>
That is essentially what your potential users do in order to make it onto your list of permitted people. But they can select a password.
There is some protection for them(users) by getting a password when they sign up to a WordPress account.
Consider how many people know your email address. Lots and lots: just about anyone who you have replied to, they know their email addy? Right? So if your users were able to sign in with only their email addresses, what would stop anyone else who knew your users’ email addresses from signing in to your private blog?
Unless there is a password.

o no
migraine and visual disturbances
blockquote formatiing messed upI hope you get what I meant: users need more than just typing in an email address because there are many people who know their email addresses.
A password + email addy confirms the right person is signing in to your private blog.

Fair enough, will try to get people to set up a WordPress account to access my private blog. Thanks for your help!
