Privacy setting not working
-
I changed my setting from public to private two days ago, but have still had the subsequent days where hits show on specific posts and pages——why is this happening??
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

not unless it counts when i open my admin area first–and there are still hits on posts and pages i have not gone to at all

Well, it’s still happening–6 visits to my site now for specific posts. I “log in” only at my bookmarked admin area. *NOT* IMPRESSED with the “Privacy” setting at all. Even set most *posts* at “private” and they are still being visited.

If it helps, I just tried to visit your site with the link you provided in your first post and it came up saying it was a protected blog and that I couldn’t view it.

which also likely means that your site was crawled by search engines and people are still finding results from your site in search results. Making your site private on WPcom doesn’t mean it will be immediately removed from search engines. See more about this in the guide> https://wordpress.com/support/seo/#frequently-asked-questions specifically this section in the FAQ:
I changed my privacy settings, but I’m still showing up in Google. How can I remove my site from search?
You need to wait until your results drop in the search engine. There is no further action you can take on WordPress.com’s end. You may request that Google remove a website from their index through the website removal request tool.
