  Is it necessary to also set each post as ‘Private’ in a private blog or with the general blog settings is enough to prevent the post from being accessed by people?

  When your blog is private, it can not be accessed by the general public.
  When you choose to make it public, you can also choose to have some posts as drafts, so they don’t show in your published blog.
