I logged in today after several months to continue the draft of my website only to find several changes… first the site seems to resemble facebook or some other kids site. Secondly and most importantly, I find that if I want to make changes to my site, which is hidden, then I need to make it visible… since when are people expected to make unfinished work which could be subject to plagiarism visible to the general public? It seems to me that this site is not suitable for my purposes so I will need to terminate my account here. What assurances do I have from you that it will be completely deleted and not subject to plagiarism?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    re: hacked accounts and blogs

If anyone is posting anything to your blog or removing anything from it, or changing anything in it, or if your blog has been deleted and you did not delete it, then it’s most likely that you have provided them with the ability to do so, either deliberately by adding them as official users, or by allowing them access to your login information, or by posting content that makes it easy for them to guess what your log-in information is.

For you the question that needs to be answered is: Who, aside from me, has access to my login information?

Go to your email program immediately and change the password to a very difficult one because that’s how many hackers gain access to blogs.

    Read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

Change your blog password to a very difficult one > http://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#change-your-password
You can also reset your password via your Settings tab on the WordPress.com home page:
    http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/

Use a secure, encrypted connection to connect to your Dashboard. Under Users → Personal Settings, check the box that says “Always use HTTPS when visiting administration pages, and click Save Changes.

    Use two step authentication http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/

Run a security scan on your computer. See here to run a security scan http://geekflare.com/online-scan-website-security-vulnerabilities/

Never leave your computer logged into your blog and walk away from it. Always log out properly.

P.S. Staff have records of who did what under which username and login information and when they did it. I flagged this thread with modlook for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it. Note that there is a backlog and be patient while waiting.

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/
Type in getting help and click search https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=getting+help

    See: Getting WordPress.com Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/

There is no phone support. Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

The best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is:
    http://wordpress.com/help/contact

Live chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/

    re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:

And how exactly does one contact one one of these staff? I was under the impression I was contacting them when I wrote this message on here. I have had my privacy violated by his fucking site

    clanconacher,

    I asked about similar changes.

When I read forum threads, other users who can’t understand the stupidity of these changes only got abuse from support staff.

Welcome to the Orwellian dystopia of the new “improved” WP!

When you post into a support forum thread you are expected to provide a response to the specific issue. If all you post for is to troll then Staff can make sure you cannot post into the forums at all so I suggest that you please stop that behavior.

    @claudiagroh

It seems to me that this site is not suitable for my purposes so I will need to terminate my account here.

Please deal with the site first.

All blogs are independent websites and deleting one has no impact on any others at all.

To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

    https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com

*Replace “NAME_OF_BLOG” with the actual name of the blog in the URL above.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account

If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

    Read also: Account Recovery https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

To empty site content and keep the URL see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

Here’s how to deactivate your account:
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile at https://wordpress.com/me/account and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click. http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blogs and/or blog content or making the site private does not remove indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results) and we cannot help with that. Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

    timethief,

Something is profoundly wrong when sympathy for another’s plight is considered “trolling”.

If not caring about what anyone says is the credential for being allowed to post on a support forum, then banning would be the highest honor one could receive.

    Go ahead and ban me.

    Good day.
