privacy?(what is hiderefer?)
-
After you click “only visible to those I choose,” a prompt comes up “I would like my links to be public, without passing through hiderefer.com”
What does this mean? That if I put a link to my site in an email, the recipient will still gain access to me even if they are not a member? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
That means, if you link to someone from your blog (either in the content or the sidebar) they will be able to see it. If you USE “hiderefer” then they will not be able to trace it back to your blog. No setting on your blog has anything to do with emails. If you put a link to your site in an email, and your blog is NOT entirely private, then yes, people will be able to click through to your blog. I recommend, if you don’t want people to go to your blog, you don’t put a link in an email.

If you choose yes for that, then when someone clicks a link on your private blog, it will be routed through “hiderefer.com which means that the people on the other end of the link won’t get your blog address and such. All they will see is hiderefer.
If you choose not to use it, then the people on the other end will see your blog URL as the referrer.

Right right of course. What if I want it to be private and I put a link in an email for one person to see who is not a member, can they still see it?
