  I want to set up a private blog for a group of gamers to share info and things that we can’t share elsewhere due to software limitations.
  I created the blog, set it to private, sent out an invitation to, Administer, Author, Contribute and view. Each time it required a wordpress account to access the blog.
  Why?
  Just to view?
  come on now, am I doing something wrong or is this ridiculous requirement really necessary? If so, why?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Why? Because it’s the only way the software can differentiate between bona fide viewers and hackers.

  How do you intend to keep your blog private if there is no log-in requirement?

  Who else is going to know its there?
  It is not going to be listed with search engines.

  You can make your blog public yet not searchable within search engines. Then there is no log-in requirement.
