private blog but want friends to be able to access it?

    Hi,
I need to make my blog private right now but I still want my friends to be able to access it and read it. I thought I could invite them from the “add new user” function and that they’d then simply be able to access my blog. But this function is actually asking them to register with wordpress and that is too many steps to ask friends to do, who simply want to read one of my posts. Is there any simpler way to allow friends to have EASY access to my blog during the time that I have to make it private?

    Please help ASAP!
    THANK YOU!!!!!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Regarding my question above, should I just make the posts that I want only friends to read, “password protected” instead of making the whole blog private? I read the info on password protecting posts but it didn’t explain if I can then give the password to friends and if they can then access those posts. If that’s possible, then that’s probably the solution, instead of making the whole blog private.

    Anyone? Please? Help?

Bumping threads distorts the fabric of space and time, as well as irritating some of the unpaid volunteers that provide help in the Forum, bumping also tends to slow down the response as many helpers look for the questions that have only the single post count showing no answers and work on them first.

EVERYONE that posts here is in a hurry – it can take up to 24 hours for someone to look in the Forum that has the knowledge to answer some questions, helpers are from all over the world.

If your blog is private then people need to be added or invited and be a member of your blog to read it – that is just they way it works here.

Password protected Posts are only to limit access to Posts that are written in a Public blog (one that anyone can visit) – Password protection is not as secure as a Private blog as passwords can be shared.
