Private blog, change Viewer to Author

  My blog is private. I accidentally invited people to join as Viewers. I would like to change them to Authors, but they don’t appear under “All Users”. How can I upgrade them without making them reply to a bothersome new invitation?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Non-contributing roles (Viewer, Follower) aren’t included among “All Users,” though WordPress includes those categories in the User Roles support page. A bit confusing. I believe you’ll have to send new invitations to each.

  I think you’re right. As you can tell from the question, I was hoping for an alternative to new invitations, which are both embarrassing for me & annoying for the Viewers.

  Doc is correct, the only way to do this is to send a new invite with the “Author” user role specified.

  Once they’ve accepted as an Author, you can adjust them between Contributor / Author /Editor / Administrator in the Users settings, but the followers/viewers are accounted for separately.
