Private blog only available to predefined users
-
Hi,
First post. I am looking for a solution and I am wondering if a wordpress blog will be useful.
Can I configure an entire wordpress blog to be viewable to certain users whom I assign a username and password to? If so, can you please roughly outline how this would be implemented on a blog that is set-up.
Best,
Eric -
The short answer is No.
The long answer is you can have a private blog, but YOU cannot assign usernames and passwords; you can only invite people but they set their usernames and passwords.

I see.
Can you provide provide guidance on the recommended way to prepare a private blog accessible via invite only?

Create a blog, set it to Private, and on the dashboard Users page, invite people by adding their email as “Viewers” or “Users” rather than Contributors or Editors.

Thank you.
I have set up a blog.
I see where I can add users. Thank you. I only want to grant them the ability to post responses on the blog. This should work fine.
One last question. Where is this private setting? When I set up the site, there was a checkbox on site privacy. Was this it?
