Private Domain

  I’m thinking about getting a private domain for my blog, but I have a few questions:

  1. Will my readers be able to access my blog if they go to the .wordpress.com address?

  2. Will I be able to write and design the blog entries through WordPress?

  3. Will I still have access to the statistics that WordPress gives me now?

  Perhaps you can clarify what you mean by “private” domain. Do you mean that you want to set it to private so that only the people you invite can see your site, or do you mean you want private registration for your domain name so that your personal information is not visible on a “whois” search?

  I just mean that I want to privatize my blog so that I could remove the “wordpress.com” part of the website address. I want the site to be open to the public though.

  1. Ah, ok. If you get your own domain name and map it to your site here, then your site is still hosted here, but will appear under your own domain name, so if someone puts in your old wordpress.com URL, they will get to your blog just fine, and will be shown your new URL.

  2. Yes, you will do everything through your dashboard here just like you always have.

  3. Yes, your blog stats will continue on just as normal.
