Private Members area

There seem to be many plug-ins presumably for wordpress.org users.
However I would like to have a simple contact database of members on my WordPress.com website. At present I am copying and pasting details from a spreadsheet on to a WordPress password protected page.
It would be useful to have a secure on-line way of doing this.
Any ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
While we don’t have a plugin for this, you can find all your followers by going to Dashboard > Site Stats > My Followers.
You can find more information here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/followers/
As for all users of your blog, you can find all their information by going to User > All Users in your Dashboard.
I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Thanks Grace but I don’t understand your response. Can I be clear on plug-ins please. Can they be used without downloading WordPress on to my computer?
If not what is available for a database of members who are not necessarily following the website?
Many thanks.

It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. If you are wondering how WordPress.com differs from WordPress.org, this support article explains the distinction:
There is no database that can be added to your site for people who are not following your site. If you are just purely looking at your viewers there wouldn’t be a way to track down their information. You can view how many viewers you have by going to Dashboard > Site Stats but there wouldn’t be a way to get their emails/usernames/etc on WordPress.com.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
