PRIVATE PAGE DISAPPEARED
-
I went to the Pages screen for my blog. I clicked “Quick edit” on a particular page and ticked its “Private” box and then “Update”. The page disappeared from the list of pages including the list of “Private” pages. For other private pages, I could still view the page by using its link — but not this one. Only difference with this page was that I made it private via the “Quick edit” option on the pages list. The others I made private by first editing the page, scrolling down to visibility options and then ticking “Private”. Strange.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m not clear on why you would be making private pages in any blog when the blog visibility is already private.

Thanks for replying timethief. I’m making pages private because I don’t want them appearing on the main page seen by visitors (ie invited visitors that is) but I want to link to them from other pages. It’s one way that has worked. I’ve not tried using the “Publication” (or is it “Published” ??) setting yet. I know you can exclude pages from the “Page List” widget thingy in the sidebar but that’s a tad messy having to make a note of a page’s id or name etc and then go back and edit the widget. Making the page private has been quickest and has worked fine … until now. I’ll just avoid “Quick edit” to see if that makes any difference. Page has to be somewhere … it’s now so private I can’t see it : )

Take a look at the other posts on the Missing Post tag to see if you have anything in common with them or there’s a solution that works for you. I have to say, NEVER use the Quick Post button, as it does not activate the Autosave and is definitely associated with the missing post issue https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/missing-post
