Private pages
-
I’m having a use case possibility of using WordPress for hosting our private site (basically should’nt go public.)
So I see 2 options to do this:
Either, should choose the single page while publishing to be private (so that only logged in users will see that)
Second way is to make the entire sub-domain private… here too only logged in users get to see this..
So my question is:
1. Will the pages can be stopped from being indexed? Search engines cannot crawl this data right?
Privacy of the content these pages is what I’m deeply concerned about.
I’ve ready that there is an option to be enabled to refrain from indexing, however, a note was there mentioning that all search engines doesn’t respect this option.
So, I’m confused on the privacy.

Hi there, does the site already exist elsewhere?
You can definitely host a free private site here on WordPress.com – as long as it is kept “private” in the site settings, it won’t be indexed, and neither will any media you add to the site.
The “discourage search engines from indexing this site” checkbox is only there for sites which are set to public; it’s not relevant for private sites as those are not made available for indexing.
For reference, these are the guides for site privacy:

Can we use Google SSO for login?
Like if i am using WordPress for hosting our private site, then to automate the login, can we use Google SSO?

Oh, so is your idea to create a membership site? If so, there’s another guide you’ll want to check out:
https://wordpress.com/support/tutorials/decision-guide-to-build-a-membership-website/.
On plan Business, you’ll be able to use any WordPress-compatible plugins to get the features you want.

no.. not a membership site… a wordpress private site with access to around 20 people.. that’s it

You could use Google SSO with plugins,
Or, people could create accounts here using their Google sign-ons, and you can add them to that site.
Also, you asked earlier about private pages on a public site. Search engines cannot touch private pages, either; no one except logged-in authorized visitors can see them.
https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/Just remember the individual pages and posts have privacy settings you would use each time.
I hope this helps.
