Private post setting changed

Hello folks, I typically make weekly posts private for at least a day, but today, I can’t choose that option. It shows up in the radio button feed, but won’t let me click on it. Has something changed?

Are you speaking of the post currently in draft on your site? The option to set it to private works fine on my end, so this might be a problem with your browser.
Please see if clearing your browser cache, or logging in with incognito mode/a different browser helps at all.
That said, your entire site is already set to private. That means only you and people you specifically invite can see your site, and it cannot be indexed by search engines. So there’s not really any reason to publish every individual post on your site as private as well.
The only reason to use private posts is if there were other people who had access to your site, but you wanted some posts to only be visible to site admins. But you’re the only user on the site, and you haven’t added any viewers, so you’re essentially just complicating things for yourself by publishing your posts as private as well :)

Hmmm.. ok, so then if it is private, how can you see that I have one in draft? That kinda scares me.

Anyone marked as “Staff” on the forums are WordPress.com employees. We have access to the backend of every site here on WordPress.com as a function of being a member of WordPress.com’s support staff.
