Private post within a private blog

I have a private blog and I want to make sure that my posts are private and can only be viewed to the people I allow. However, it seems that when I select private post, none of my private viewers can see the post, can you help with this? Also since my blog is private, do I need to even bother hitting private post? Thanks

If you make a post private, only editors and administrators have access to that private post. I’m assuming the viewers you gave access to are regular viewers. Here is a breakdown of the different roles you can select:

If the goal is to make your entire site visible only to viewers you select, there isn’t a need to also make your posts private. But if you want specific posts to be private and do not want anyone to see those at all (except for editors and administrators), then setting the post to private gives you that option.
