Private Posts by User (not owner)
-
I’m interested in starting a blog and there is one feature in particular I am interested in. Is it possible for someone reading my blog to leave a private post/message for me (the owner)only and, if so, how? I want to be open to the possibility of private communication, but the public posting of either the user’s or the owner’s (mine) contact data is problematic. If WordPress does not afford this possibility, is there some other blog that might? Thanks.

My suggestion would be to create a contact page. They can enter their communication there and it is emailed to you by the wordpress software. It does not appear on the blog. On my contact page I’ve actually stated that it can be used for private communication, and I get a number of messages per month via my contact page from people not wanting what they write to be public.
Second possibility is to use comment moderation which holds all comments until you approve them. This might not be the best solution though, as the commenter might be a little nervous about doing it this way.

I forgot to leave this link: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/how-do-i-make-a-contact-form/ .
If you do set up a contact page, make sure and disable “comments” on that page (in the area below the text edit box in the editor). If the contact box and the comment box are both there, it can confuse things and your viewers might end up putting their private communication into the comment box by mistake.
