private registration

  OK, I transfered my site hosting yesterday in order to use Wrodpress.org.
  Was told I had to cancel private registration that I had with my blog at “thevaperstable.com” in order to do this.

  Now after checking with wild west domain or whois all my private data is shown.

  Please, how do I stop this.

  ALSO, FYI. The windows 7 OS does not show many menus or suport tickets, only XP works so had to install XP in order to fill out forms and such on wordpress.com

  Hi,

  You need to cancel Private Registration if you are transferring your domain to another registrar. You would then set privacy back up again at your new registrar once transferred.

  You do not need to cancel Private Registration if you are just changing your nameservers to point to your new host. If that is what you have done, you can just set it back up here through WordPress.com by going to the “store” area of your Dashboard.

  Thank you but yes, I did cancel it as instructed but now it won’t let me re active it. Well…… it is part of a package now but only want the privacy part.

  The new domain host cannot setup privacy because the domain was created by wordpress. That is what I have been told………

  Hi,

  If you log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard and go to Store–>My Upgrades, there is an “add private registration” link in the thevaperstable.com upgrade listing.

  Yes but I already paid for that and deleted it only because it wouldn’t allow me to move over to wordpress.org.
  EVEN if I did assume this to be incorrect and not necessary that section you speak of does not allow me to select JUST that upgrade.
  It shows all three options in a bundle that I don’t need.

  Here’s the issue- Pasted is that section-

  Domain Registration (more info)
  Register a domain for use with your blog.
  1 year subscription
  $5.00
  Private Registration (more info)

  I cannot just select one.
