Private setting & "reblog"
-
I learned about the “reblog” concept a few days ago and have been reading about it. I don’t see anything, though, in relation to sites set to “Private”. How does this “reblogging” effect posts and pages within a “Private” site? Alternately, how does it effect password-protected pages and posts?
Apparently, there’s no way I can find to turn this exploit off.
Not only do I want to protect my clueless (even more than me!) family from having their comments sent wandering the ‘Net, but I can’t figure out how this doesn’t violate copyright protections. Sploggers looking for pseudo-content certainly don’t fall under the “Fair Use Doctrine”.
A warm, comforting reply is hoped for. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If your blog is private, only Email and Print are available as sharing services. See here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/
I have public blogs and I have left issue behind me. I chose to accept what is and move on as the only other alternatives at the time were to (1) move my blogs off wordpress.com free hosting onto self-hosted wordpress.org installs, or to (2) have them remain on wordpress.com free hosting but set the blog visibility to “private”.
I could be wrong but I believe there may be a third option now. (3) In order to reblog a post one has to be logged into wordpress.com and click the “like” button on the top gray navigation bar. See here for how not to enable that “like” button on your posts so it won’t appear on the navigation bar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/#like-button
P.S. I hope other Volunteers or Staff take note of this and correct me if I am wrong about option (3).

Thank you, but by “navigation bar”, do you mean the dark grey strip above the header that says “My Account”, “My Blog”, “Subscribe”, and “Search – This Site / All Sites”. There is no “Like” button. Am I ahead of the game?
-
Okay – I can’t find “navigation bar” in the Support area, but I found a forum post – it’s the strip on the site page that displays the page / post tabs. Do I have to be a visitor to see a “Like” button?
-
Yes I did mean the top gray colored navigation bar that says “My Account”, “My Blog”, “Subscribe”, and “Search – This Site / All Sites”.
Only wordpress.com bloggers can see that navigation bar and the “like” button on it. They must be signed in to wordpress.com to see it. And you have to enable the “like” button it in order for it to appear on the navigation bar as well as on the bottom of your posts and pages.

AFAIK the “Like” button in the Admin Bar shows up in individual posts, even on a private blog. It will appear in the Admin Bar regardless of whether you remove “Likes” from the Sharing options in your Dashboard (that’s a completely different and separate utility) and you can’t disable it with the CSS upgrade as that would be a ToS violation.
Of course, the only people who will be seeing it there are the people you’ve invited to view that private blog. :)
