  Hi,
  I changed my site to private, but my approved followers no longer get emailed when I post. Is there some setting that I have wrong? How do I make it so my site is private but my regular followers still receive updates of my post? I asked an email follower to check his settings to make sure they hadn’t changed, but it was still set to immediate delivery, but he hasn’t received anything since I changed it to private.

  Hi Kirstin!

  When you switch your site to private, only users who are approved as viewers will be able to see the site and receive notifications.

  That being said, you will need to invite them as viewers:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#viewer

  This is not possible. Even the users who were following your blog before, will need to be invited as viewers to receive the updates of new posts. Please note that all the viewers must have a WordPress.com account to be able to view your site.
