Private site coming up in my feed

    I got this in my reader feed today, ‘This is a post on a private site that you’re following, but not currently a member of. Please request membership to display these posts in Reader.’
    I have never before followed private sites, so this means that someone i have followed has recently set their site to private. However. why bother telling me to ‘…request membership…’ when there is no way of knowing which site it is?? Why even bother telling me, if this is the message i am going to get and have no way of immediately knowing which site it is? Makes no sense whatsoever.
