Private site not private

  I’ve messaged WP several days ago about this but have had no response other than an acknowledgement that the system has received my query.
  I am troubled that my private blog is showing up in Reader and getting traffic from it. Surely this can’t be right. Does anyone have any idea what can be done about it?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there!

  Your site thesongofffraed.com is set to private so others won’t be able to see it. However, if they open the link and see the message that the site is private, this will be recorded in your stats.

  It also doesn’t look like the site appears in the Reader.
  Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.

  Thanks for replying, fresatomica. According to my stats there have been 16 visits from Reader in the past 30 days. Also, the blog does appear in Reader. I have screenshots of the most recent 2 or 3 new posts on there, it’s been going on for ages…How can this be happening?

  Hi there,

  According to my stats there have been 16 visits from Reader in the past 30 days.

  Views by logged-in members of your site, including yourself, are counted in your stats for sites that are set to private.

  Jetpack Stats

  So, those 16 visits are most likely coming from whenever you have browsed the site.

  Also, the blog does appear in Reader.

  Whenever you follow your own site, whether it is private or not, you will see it in the Reader. However, it will not show up in any other user’s Reader who happens to be following your site.
