private student accounts
-
My fellow teachers are using another blog site called blogger and I’d like to stay with you guys cuz I’m more familiar but I need to set up private student accounts that are attached to my blog..
what I mean is I want my blog and then I want each of my 22 students to be set up with a password protected area that will allow them to post but only them and myself have access to it….
IS THIS POSSIBLE IN THE FREE EDITION??The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there.
This isn’t possible with WordPress.com and there is NO upgrade that will enable you to do this.
In more detail, there is no option here to have password-protected areas on a WordPress.com site aside form hiding individual posts and pages behind a password, and there is no way to contribute to a WordPress.com site unless you have your own username account.
In other words, if you want your students to contribute to a blog you own, they’ll each need to first register their own username accounts connected to their own email addresses (they can do this without creating their own blogs), and then you need to add them as users on your site via the Users ->Add New section in the dashboard: https://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
If only you and your students will be using this site, I then recommend setting it to private. This means it won’t be indexed by search engines and only you and people you specifically invite will be able to read it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
With that in mind you might not want to use your own blog for this, but rather register a new free blog which you can use exclusively for you and your students. You can have as many free sites in your account as you want. https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-a-new-site-to-an-existing-account
If this won’t suit your needs you’ll need to look into the self-hosted option with WordPress.org, or another platform that allows you to do this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
