Privatizing a custom domain and payment for site upgrade.

  1). How do I make a newly added custom domain private?

  2). Is there an option to pay monthly for an upgrade or does it definitely have to be an annual payment? For example can I pay $4.00 every month for the Personal plan or do I only have the option to pay $48.00 in one transaction for the full year after the free one-year custom domain?
