Prob stupid question!.. how do I use GoDaddy domain but build on site on WordPress
-
I have just bought a new domain name (for 10yrs) from godaddy. But I want to build my website on WordPress. How do I do this please? And I have a clear vision of a specific website (I want people to click on moving bubbles (with titles on them), once clicked the bubble would open up to reveal images/text on that theme. While un-clicked various sized bubbles would be moving slowly about and bumping off the sides of the screen etc. Am I biting off more than I can chew? s although creative, I no nothing about coding etc. and only a little on ‘buttons’, html etc. Also do I go with wordpress.org or wordpress.com?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This isn’t possible at all on WordPress.com. To build that type of site you’ll need to be able to add JavaScript and write your own stylesheets, and neither of that is allowed on WordPress.com. Even WordPress.org might not work for that, as you’ll most likely have to build the front-end (what people see in their browsers) from scratch, but the place to ask about that is the WordPress.org forums (http://wordpress.org/support/)

If you know nothing about coding you’re definitely biting off more than you can chew, as it will take some pretty advanced JavaScript and CSS to set up something like you’re describing. I’m studying web development and I don’t even have a clue how I’d go about even starting to create something like you’re describing.
With WordPress.com you have the option of one of 360-odd themes listed here: https://wordpress.com/themes/ If you upgrade you can make basic changes to that theme using CSS, but nothing requiring JavaScript can be done here. To use your domain with a WordPress.com site you need the mapping upgrade which has to be renewed each year: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
On WordPress.org you’ll be able to do more than you can on WordPress.com, but on WordPress.org you’ll be responsible for all maintenance, something that’s done for us over here. Additionally, for a WordPress.org site you’ll need to buy a hosting account in addition to your domain, so the overhead costs will be more. On the flip side you can then add advertising to recoup your costs, something you can’t do on WordPress.com.
See here for all the differences: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
