Problem adding links

  I scrolled through and didn’t see this addressed, if I missed it, my apologies.

  Ever since WordPress updated the “add link” feature to allow for searching within the blog, I have been unable to add any links into my posts.

  What browser and version are you using? what does the failure look like? have you tried the Cookie dance? Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart.

  Thanks to your reports we’ve been able to find and fix a couple of bugs that we didn’t encounter in our own advance testing.

  * We fixed a conflict with the CSS plugin wordpress.com uses (the incompatibility did weird things to content in the editor), so reported problems like content being all underlined or bolded unexpectedly should no longer be happening.
  * We fixed an issue with IE8 for internal linking. We are still working on issues with IE7. (But seriously, using outdated browsers is generally not a good idea. Update your browser!)

  If you are still encountering issues with the new features, when you leave a comment or contact support, please state what operating system and browser you are using so we can troubleshoot faster.   As this topic is not marked as “resolved,” I’ll add my 2 cents here instead of starting a new thread.

  I’m using Firefox 3.6.12 on Windows XP (third party cookies disabled) and Firefox 3.6.12 on Mac OS 10.5 (third party cookies allowed) and have had problems adding links on both platforms.

  Not only does search not work consistently (has not returned correct results), when I copy/paste a link from a URL window and plug it in the dialog box, then click submit, I get dumped out of the post and back to the dashboard. This is new as of today (Windows XP machine). The link is not added to the post.

  I solved my problem. There was no submit button, only an update button. The insert/edit box was empty. I held down ctrl and reloaded insert/edit box several times, forcing a refresh until I got it working. I got this solution from.
