Problem after changing the site address.
-
Hello there! I just changed my site’s address https://heliodorahandmadegreetingcards.wordpress.com/
to
https://heliokartes.wordpress.com/
to make it shorter. I exported the content from the old address to the new one, all seems to work fine, except when I try to visit the home page from the new address. Then the old address appears up there in the URL box. Why is that ? Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @aequanima,
The reason the old address appears is the Menu item is linked to the old page. Follow these steps to do the changes in the Menu:
1)Go to MySites->Themes->Customize->Menus->Primary
2)You would see the Menu items listed there. Click on the item “ΑΡΧΙΚΗ/ HOME”. It should be a Custom URL link. The URL now must be “https://heliodorahandmadegreetingcards.wordpress.com/” change it to “https://heliokartes.wordpress.com/”.
3)Then Click on Save and Publish at the top of the tab. The change should take place.
You can learn more about Customizing Menu’s here:
Hope this helps, let me know for any further questions.

Hello Pavan!
Thanks for being so quick to reply!
I did what you told me, problem solved but I noticed that now it seems
I am on two pages at the same time: the Home page and the Gallery page titles are on (red coloured) at the same time. Is that normal? Thanks again!

Hi @aequanima,
Apologies for the delayed reply. I had a closer look at the problem, the reason both the menu items are getting highlighted is, both the pages are pointing to the same page. They are assigned to a Custom Link item which is pointing to the Home Page URL(https://heliokartes.wordpress.com/).
To be able to correct it, you need to assign the right page to the Gallery item in the Menu. If you have a separate Gallery page, you can assign that page to the Menu item “Gallery”. The link in my above reply explains to Customize your Menu items.
If you are trying to have a separate Home Page and Gallery page, you need to create different pages and assign them correctly in the Menu. You can learn more about setting up your Portfolio pages and understand your theme from this support document:
https://wordpress.com/theme/illustratr
Also, if you would like to set up your home page as a different “Static Front Page”, you can manage to do that as well. You have information at the bottom of your theme page. You can read more about it here:
I hope this helps you clarify, please do let me know if I can help with anything else.
Thanks! -
