Problem changing or adding Categories

  I asked a question (I thought to Support) yesterday about problems I’m having changing the name of a category and/or adding a category. Specifically,
  My blog is BobbyBluford.com
  1. I am using the Enterprise Theme by StudioPress
  2. I currently have 3 category parents: Business Stuff, Training & Workout Tips, and Deep Thoughts & Philosophy
  3. I’ve added a category; I can see it in my list of categories, but it’s not appearing.
  4. I can’t change the name of “Training & Workout Tips” to Fitness; it gives an “item not updated” message.

  Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

  Hi Bobby. Did you assign that new category to any posts so far? More info here:

  As for the error when trying to change a category name to “fitness”, I think it’s because you are already using the tag “fitness”. You see, while categories and tags play different roles, in the end they all become global tags and I think you can’t have a category and a tag of the same name on the same blog.

  Unfortunately, I can’t find a previous thread or support doc that mentions this “category-tag clash”. Hopefully, if I’m wrong, another volunteer will correct me :-)

  I have assigned a post to that new category.. but it’s a guest poster. Does that make a difference? I’ll try your tip on the other issue.

  related problem – from a novice – using Oulipo
  I have added categories to the dashboard but they do not appear.

  No. His problem was categories that did not appear. My categories appear. But I thought the posts would be archived at or within its category.

  My blog is http://www.missionomission.org. Sorry to have omitted that.Using Oulipo.

  Got posts and got categories. I guess that are “assigned” but not sure if so or when I did that.

  But what I want to do is to move the posts to sit under the category intended.
  Probably very easy – once you are familiar with the bells and whistles.
