Problem commenters keep getting logged out

  My commenters keep getting “logged out” so their comments show up as Anonymous. Or in some cases when they enter in their handle again their comments go missing and I don’t see them show up in my dashboard. I haven’t changed anything on the blog. Any ideas on how to fix this?

  Hi there, Did this just start happening recently? What are your current discussion settings? https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#other-comment-settings Do you require that your commenters be logged in to their WordPressdotcom account or can they list name and email to comment?

  If these are logged in users, it might be worth them logging out first and clearing their cache and cookies (which will also log them out of any other site they are currently logged in to).

  I don’t require logging in. They just put in a name to comment. No email needed.

  My original question was little misleading. Commenters actually don’t need to log in.

  But what is happening is that even when on the same computer used for the previous comment, their comment comes up as “anonymous” instead of as their regularly used handle. And then some are reporting their comments disappear randomly.

  And nothing is showing up as spam. I’m perplexed about what’s happening.

  Hi there,

  If someone doesn’t fill up their name on the comment box, their comment is posted anonymously, therefore they need to fill their name each time they post a comment.

  Usually for me and my commenters, if we’re using the same computer our names will fill in automatically so they don’t need to fill in their name for every comment. (Not sure if this is unusual but that’s our experience.) But now every comment is posting as anonymous and some are disappearing completely.

  @totebagger if someone’s getting logged out randomly, can you ask them to reach out here? We may be able to help with that. I don’t think it’s an issue with your site, though. You just see it because you allow anonymous comments.

  Thank you, everyone. I’m at a loss as to why this problem seems to have spontaneously occurred. I will suggest to commenters that they come to this forum to seek a resolution.
