    Hello,
Today I purchased a hosting plan with Siteground. I was told WordPress and Woocommerce were included but I keep being prompted to upgrade. How can I fix this?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey @mendozavega, you will have to contact Siteground for this issue here as you have the self-hosted version of wordpress. This forum is for websites hosted on wordpress.com.

You can ignore the prompts and they won’t affect your website. You may have to upgrade if you want certain services though. You can also find help at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ for self-hosted wordpress websites.

  • Hi there,

Are you seeing the upgrade prompts when you access the dashboard for your WordPress.com site at http://holisticdragon.wordpress.com/? If so, it’s because that site is hosted here on WordPress.com, and has nothing to do with the hosting you bought from Siteground. To use WooCommerce on a WordPress.com-hosted site requires our Pro plan.

If you want to host your site with them, you need to install the open source version of WordPress on your server on their end. Please contact their support directly for help with that process.

Once you have WordPress installed over there, you’ll then be able to install the WooCommerce plugin from inside your site’s WP-Admin dashboard. You’ll access that dashboard via an admin user account you’ll create while installing WordPress, in other words, a completely different account than the one you use to log into WordPress.com :)
