Problem creating slideshow
-
I have posted a blog called Featured Gallery. I want the photos to show up as a slideshow. I have tried following your directions, but nothing seems to work. They are all showing up on our home page, and that isn’t the way we want them. Can you help?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Sure, I’d love to help!
If you could link me to the post you need to fix the slideshow in, I’ll walk you through exactly what to do to get up and running!
Cheers!

I’m sorry to be so late in responding to you. For some reason your message ended up in spam. Here is the link for the post you requested

No worries!
Ok, so it looks like what you would really like to do is have a PAGE called “Featured Gallery,” instead of a post.
To do that, go to Dashboard > Pages > Add New
*Title the new page Featured Gallery (or whatever else you’d like)
*Publish the page.
Now, you’ll want to open each post you made with a gallery and select “Gallery” as the Post Format (on the right side of the screen).
Now you’re going to set up a custom menu, which are the steps below (and you can find them at the link here):
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/*Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus
*You’ll want to name your menu something – it can just be “Main Menu” or something else that makes sense to you.
*Under “Theme Locations” you’ll want to click on the drop down menu and select the menu you just named.
*Click Save.
*Scroll down and select all the pages you’d like to have appear in your menu. You can also choose sub pages – and you can arrange them as sub pages under their parents pages (this is demonstrated at the link above) (tip: you can also select all, using the link at the bottom of the pages module).
*Click Add to Menu.
*In the menu area, you’ll see all your pages added – click Save Menu.
*Now, scroll down again and click “Format” and choose “galleries” and click Add to Menu.
*You’ll want to arrange “galleries” as a subordinate to your Featured Galleries page that you created above.
*Click Save Menu.
You should be all set!
Just let me know if you have any other questions or if you run into any issues!

no, we do not want to set up a gallery. That is just the name we are using. We want to create a slideshow. Why has Word Press made it so difficult. I feel like you are speaking a foreign language.

Hi again,
Sorry for the confusion – slideshows are now part of the Gallery feature:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/You can see how to make sure to turn your gallery into a slideshow here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#adding-a-gallery-or-slideshowThe vital last step is to make sure to select “Slideshow” once you are choosing the Gallery Settings (this is shown in the link above).
So, just as you could select a rectangular gallery, or a circle-style gallery, you can select a slideshow gallery from this dropdown menu.
I hope that helps!
