  I need to add the following code to the CSS Stylesheet, but every time I put it in, it seems to strip the code and I come up with nothing for the first two below, and only the text for the widgets/sidebar.

  Here are the codes I need to add:

  First off, that cannot be added to CSS here or anywhere. CSS is not markup, it is a styling document.

  Secondly, even if you could add it, it would get your blog deleted from here in the blink of an eye. Advertising is, except for a couple very narrow exceptions, not allowed on wordpress.COM. For the exceptions, see the last sentence under “Affiliate marketing blogs” in the bottom set of bullet points in the “types of blogs” link below.

  If you want to advertise, you will have to go elsewhere, or self-host your blog on a third-party hosting site such as godaddy or bluehost. Figure an average monthly cost including domain name of about $10 to $25. You will be responsible for all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong you will have to figure it out and fix it.

  It costs money to make money, and most people that do advertising on blogs do not even make enough to pay for their hosting and domain costs. Just sayin’
