Problem editing for new tab on stored images
-
Hi
The only way I’ve been able to set the target=”_blank” setting on individual images is after I’ve added an image to a post and edit it from there.
One forum answer said I should be able to add ‘open in new tab’ when I add or edit an image (I presume, any time that I go to the Media libary) but I don’t see that option for that on my screen, e.g., https://lummiislandliving.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media.php?action=edit&attachment_id=1260 What am I missing, please?
Or better yet — what I’d really like is to set up things up so that all new uploaded images etc open in a new tab by, but I can’t find a way to do that, either.
Thanks for any help you can give on this. Wynne

It would be a nice option, but it’s not possible. Perhaps in a future upgrade? but don’t hold your breath.
Do you remember where/when you saw the post? -
Oh well. I’m afraid I don’t remember where I found that answer.
It’s just a real pain – I have to insert each image in a post, then edit it to opening in a new window.
Maybe Under “Settings” for images, there’d be default options to choose the target=”_blank” – borders, too would be nice to be able to default.
But I won’t hold my breath.

Yes, you can do this in the Image Edit, but not automatically.
You can set the image to link to file, right? Then, once you’ve got it set that way, you can click the Image Edit Icon (the mountain) and under Advanced you can click the tickbox to Open in New Window. Or you can just look at the image in the regular Edit Post window, click to select it, click the Link icon, and edit the pop-up to Open Link In New Window, which from the sounds of it is what you’re doing now. This eliminates one step.

I think, also, that the Class options we now have are going to make this much easier in the future, but currently I don’t think they function that way.
