It’s important to gain a crystal clear understanding of the differences between Posts for dynamic content and Pages that sit outside the blog structure and are intended to be used for static content that rarely if ever changes. Static Pages cannot have categories and tags assigned to them, they have very little Google juice and the only way they can be updated is to edit them.
Archives & Categories pages discounted, there is only one running page for Posts in a blog that will automatically update when you publish a post by placing that post on the top in reverse chronological order . This is usually the front page of your blog but it can be changed to another static Page. Posts have lots of Google juice and they can have categories and tags assigned to them.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/In the Inuit Types theme you can choose to display Categories and sub-categories in the horizontal menu that’s intended for displaying static Pages. The theme also provides drop-down menus intended to be used for child pages. When you create a static Page you have the option to either assign it to be a Parent Page or a child Page by designating it’s Parent page. To find the place to do that edit the Page in question and look under “Attributes” in the right hand column.
Find this and designate a Parent Page for the child page that is not being displayed:
Parent
Page ParentYou can arrange your pages in hierarchies. For example, you could have an “About” page that has “Life Story” and “My Dog” pages under it. There are no limits to how deeply nested you can make pages.

IMO many bloggers are totally confused about what the normal structure of a blog is. One can create static Pages for News, Sports and Weather in the horizontal menu but that does not change the fact that you cannot post to more than one single running Page for posts. If you wish to make “News” the page on which all your posts are displayed following publication, rather than having them display on the front page of your blog you can do that here. > Settings > Reading
Look for:
Front page displays___Your latest posts
___ A static page (select page below)
* Front page:
* Posts page:Select “News” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes”.

wow,thats a lot.first, let me catch my breath and clear my brain,lol. thanks timethief, you actually answered my question.anyway, meaning, my front page will have to be a parent page and the other pages will be a static pages of that parent page.(example: my home page is a parent page and my news, sports, etc.,etc, is a static page.!) is that what im suppose to do?

@caloyski12 Based on what you have described, I think learning how to use categories is the way to go. You cannot add a post to a page, but you can file posts using different categories and then display a list of categories in the sidebar.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/And, some themes such as iNove, Monochrome, Motion, and Titan can be customized to use categories for navigation instead of pages.
We are also always working to add new themes, so keep an eye on the news blog for announcements about them.
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/category/themes/@panaghiotisadam I wouldn’t recommend using that method. It’s not meant to work that way (as mentioned in the link) and will probably be fixed soon. More options to customize menus are coming in the future though.

@designsimply: I first suggested this workaround here in mid-2008. It has been suggested countless times in the forum since then, and it’s used by many members (that post of mine has had more than 12,000 visits so far). “Fixing” should mean correcting the defects you get in some themes, not killing a possibility.

@panaghiotisadam: ok thanks, but i don’t want my page tab as external links. thanks anyway.
@designsimply: yes, i have tried that using categories as nav menu on theme motion. the only problem i have on that is that i can’t arrange it the way i want to. i didn’t know you can’t add a post to a page. i guess i have to go back using theme motion. can i customize it? i want to change the background and color and i want theme motion in three column. -
@caloyski12
I’m not surprised to hear that you didn’t know you couldn’t post to any more than a single running page for posts in a blog. I have tried and tried to explain this but whenever I do others post external “trick” and the bloggers in question never get the point I’m trying to make. They still don’t know how blogs are meant to work and without that basic knowledge the “tricks” can lead them so far off course that they never learn.The only way you can customize a theme is by having the CSS editing skills to do so and purchasing an annually renewable upgrade. However, that being said we cannot affect functionality by CSS editing. We can only affect appearance.
Currently, the iNove, Inuit Types, Monochrome, Neutra, Sandbox 1.6.1, and Titan themes are the only ones that have dropdowns to child pages from parent pages in the top horizontal menu.

@caloyski12: You asked “how to file a news post under a news page nav menu”, right? You file that post under a “news” category, click that category in your sidebar, copy its URL from the addres bar of your browser and turn the “news” page into a link to that category as explained in the post I linked to. Next time try to read more than the title of a link before dismissing it.
