Problem finding post categories when writing a post with this new editor.

In the new editor, I can’t see all my post categories when I click on the Categories box. I only see half or less. Can something be done about this?

In the old editor you had a list where you could just tick the relevant categories, in this new editor I can start typing and see they’re there, but if I don’t remember ALL categories, I will miss them altogether since I can see only half or less of them. Don’t know if I’ve made myself clear…

Also, if I may make a suggestion, after you finish your post, you have the option to view the post, that then opens a new tab or window with that post. It might be more useful to be offered the possibility of viewing the post or going to the blog. In the same window/tab.

    Thanks for your genius product!

    Hi!

In the new editor, I can’t see all my post categories when I click on the Categories box. I only see half or less. Can something be done about this?

When you initially load the new editor, we load the top 100 categories in the background. Then, when you click into the field, we’ll show you the first 20 alphabetically. If you type into the box, we’ll automatically sort through and display relevant categories (within the original 100 we loaded).

We originally limited the loading to 100 categories to reduce load time. However, we’re working on ways to improve this in the future!

Also, if I may make a suggestion, after you finish your post, you have the option to view the post, that then opens a new tab or window with that post. It might be more useful to be offered the possibility of viewing the post or going to the blog. In the same window/tab.

Thanks for this bit of feedback! I’ll pass it along to our team.

I gave this a few more tries (publishing test posts), and I have a few follow-up questions regarding the View Post button.

    – This closely mimics the flow in the old editor. When you publish a post, you’re immediately taken to that new post.

    – If you want to continue working on your site (get back to your “Dashboard”), you can click the My Sites tab in the top left-hand corner. Even if you have multiple sites on your account, it will take you to the site manage screen for the site you just published to. For example, say I published a post to callitluck.wordpress.com. If I click “My Sites”, I’m immediately taken to the following screen:

    http://d.pr/i/12nlN

That will allow me to edit/add/manage the rest of the site.

If we added the second button (on top of “View Post”), I’m wondering where it would direct (that would make the most sense). The option to view the homepage of your site would be to click “View Post” and then click your header.
