Problem för vissa besökare att kommentera inlägg
-
I have had this issue up before. I therefore know that an email can be a problem for some visitors.
Now I have a friend who would like to comment on my blog, but she must exclude her e-mail and comment anonymously to do so.
Is there anything you can do? What she knows she has never registered a wordpress.com.She has her own blog on http://blogg.loppi.se/husetfullt/. According to her, that website is based on wordpress? Is it possible that it might complicate things even in those cases.
But it did not help her to log in to her own blog, so it still is some problem there to solve? Is it possible that through her e-mail locate the problem and solve it? If she somtetime in the past signed in to a wordpress.com-account, but forgot about it, it would of course be marvelous if she could get it deregistered?
Her email, with which she can’t use to comment, is “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”,I still think this is a part that wordpress need to look over. It is sometimes a big problem, and hard for visitors to understand …
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
The email address you provided is associated with a WordPress.com account. That account is being used to connect the site you linked to the Jetpack plugin.
In order to protect our users, we don’t allow commenters to use an email address associated with an account unless they can log into that account.
Since the user has access to that email address, you can direct them to this form to reset their password and log into their WordPress.com. Then they can leave a comment using their email address:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Does that clear things up for you?
-
Hm … this is not optimal, because I don’t think she want to use that wordpress-account.
But if she delete the account, she should be disconnected and be able to use her activ blog-site, isn´t she?
How is that done properly? -
There’s no way to delete a WordPress.com account. And if she did, she wouldn’t be able to use the Jetpack plugin anymore. However, she can change the email address that the account is using, which would free her current email address to be used without logging in.
To do this, she’ll need to recover the account using the form I linked to last time. Then she can head here to update the email address:
https://wordpress.com/me/account
Once she’s saved the change, an email will be sent to the new address. She’ll need to click on the confirmation link in that email to complete the change.

How come that you can not delete a wordpress.com account that you no longer want? What will then happen if you use the admin tool called “Delete Site”?
And what is “Jetpack plugin”? Is that really something you need to have if you have the primary blog on, for example blogspot.se, and would like to comment on a wordpress.com blog? There are a lot of bloggers who never have had a wordpress.com account?
I think this is a bit complicated.
-
Oh, I forgot! I have a supplementary question to this.
If I have opened more than one blog at the same wordpress.com account, but regretted it, is there no way to use the “Delete Site” to just delete the blog that I do not want.
I have not dared to try me on that, but have only just hidden the unwanted blog. -
I have got a mail about rating my support experience. Since I’ve not got any answers for my latest questions, I will wait to answer that mail.
I usually get very good support, so maybe this delay is because of hte holidays we have had? -

I usually get very good support, so maybe this delay is because of hte holidays we have had?We trigger that email after a support thread hasn’t had a response for two days. I apologize for my delay. You’re exactly right about the holiday causing the interruption. I’ll be able to respond more quickly from here out. :)
How come that you can not delete a wordpress.com account that you no longer want?
We do this to protect our user’s identities. Since you can use your WordPress.com account to comment on other sites, if someone were able to register your username after you, they could disparage your previously created online presence.
What will then happen if you use the admin tool called “Delete Site”?
This tool will delete the site in question. It will not affect your account though.
And what is “Jetpack plugin”?
The Jetpack plugin is a plugin for self hosted WordPress.org sites. It allows users of the free WordPress software to use features that we created for WordPress.com, such as certain widgets, publicize and sharing buttons, spam blocking, math formatting, and many other features. You can read more about it here:
Is that really something you need to have if you have the primary blog on, for example blogspot.se, and would like to comment on a wordpress.com blog?
Nope! It’s only for self-hosted WordPress users. If the person you’re talking about no longer hosts their own WordPress site, they can contact us to disconnect that site from their account. However, this still won’t remove the account.
There are a lot of bloggers who never have had a wordpress.com account?
Yep! And all of them can enter their email address and not have to login to verify their identity. We base account ownership mainly on email addresses. So if someone tries to use an email address that we know is associated with an account we ask them to login. This way, we can verify that this comment really does belong to that user and isn’t someone who’s trying to gain access to their account, or other nefarious things.
If I have opened more than one blog at the same wordpress.com account, but regretted it, is there no way to use the “Delete Site” to just delete the blog that I do not want.
Yep! The “Delete Site” tool under Tools will delete the site. When you do this, the blog address will be retired and no one else will be able to reuse it, not even you. You can read more about that process here:
I hope I’ve answered all of your questions, but let me know if there’s anything more I can clarify for you. And happy new year!
-
Thanks a lot. This explains very much, even if it’s a bit tricky to handle.
About the “Delete-site” …
My fear is that this action will have impact on my primary blogg. I cant find anywhere to read about this.
If I have 3 blogs on the same account, can I be absolutely certain that ONLY the blog I shoose will be deleted?
It would be terrible to loose any parts of my primary blog … -
Yep! Only the blog who’s dashboard you’re in will be deleted. We also show you the specific URL of the site we’re deleting in both of our confirmation windows and the confirmation email that you have to click in to fully confirm the deletion.
If it helps, I don’t know of a single time this has gone wrong or affected any other sites on the account.
Is there something specific you’d to have seen at the link I gave you above? I can work on adding a section or re-wording it, if you can give me some specific feedback. :)
-
Thank you!
Maybe there’s something in the text somewhere, about removing one of several blogs in the same account? But it’s just too hard to find.
If one don’t fully understand the difference between certain terms, such as “site”, “website” and “account”.I guess it would help if it was specified in a separate heading how to deal with multiple sites on the same account, so that one wont fear to use the tools that are available. Something that explains exactly how to do it, and what will happen.
With this I am grateful for the help I received :)
ThanksBest regards
Louise -
Thanks Louise! I’ll give the document a once over and see what I can do to clarify what happens when you have multiple sites.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. :)
