Problem getting my wordpress bought domain name to godaddy
-
Hi there,
First of all, let me mention this is my first blog and i am not the best when it comes to computer and software terms, so forgive my noob language.
A few days ago i started a blog with wordpress.com, which i found fun and relatively easy to setup. I bought my own domain name through wordpress.
I then decided i wanted to go with the self-hosted version, wordpress.org.
I got a hosting package at Godaddy.com, linked my url in my godaddy profile, changed the nameservers of my domain in my wordpress account, downloaded WordPress and installed it via the godaddy app, however when i enter my url now into a browser, all i get is a “COming soon – check back! This domain is parked free, courtesy of
Automattic” page.I know the nameservers are correct, checked that with the hosting company, and they do not seem to know where the problem is coming from.
I figured i would ask here – sorry if this question has been asked before, i looked around but didn’t find a similar situation.
Thanks for your help. -
I’m not sure, but you could be butting up against a US law that prevents people from moving blogs attached to domains for 60 days. Perhaps someone with more specific experience could post…but we’ll need to know your OLD WP.com URL and your new address, both starting with http.

I believe this is the support documentation entry you are referring to:Transfer to Another Registrar
Note: You may not transfer a domain name within 60 days of purchase or for 60 days after any contact information is changed. This is standard across all registrars. It is a rule set by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).A domain transfer is initiated at the new registrar. You will need to unlock the domain and request your Auth Code before you can complete the transfer. From: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/
