Problem importing from WordPress to WordPress
-
I’m moving my blog from my own hosting to WordPress.com hosting. I have the exported xml created by using wp-xmlmigrate, which can be found here:
http://technosailor.com/wordpress-to-wordpress-import/I’m having problem importing it into the WordPress.com hosting site. I gave it a few try now and then but it always says
503 Service Unavailable
The server is temporarily busy, try again later! The xml is only 193kb, and I can even see the file in Manage/Uploads, but none of my posts/comments are there. The xml file also has a dozen comment that I marked as spam, I don’t know how to get rip of them from the xml because I don’t see these spam from the dashboard.

This may seem like a stupid question (most likely is), but you went to Admin => Manage -> Import and chose the wordpress import? If the server gives you that error again, copy the error and send an email to support at wordpress dot com and let them know. The server is sometimes busy late, but should be OK to import in the morning.

Did you clean out the spam first like was suggested over on wp.org? Having a huge amount of items (ie posts, comments, pages, and spam) in there may cause issues and we’ve seen sites with thousands of comment spams in their files.

I remove the spam manually from the xml since they can’t find them from the dashboard. So now there are only 18 posts with no comments, but it still showed service unavailable.
