Problem in finding my page with search engines

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’m trying to find my blog or one of my posts through, .e.g., google with firefox and I can’t. Even if I type the the exact blog name or the exact title of a post the results lead either somewhere else or nowhere.

Recently I received an email by the wordpress team that my blog ‘can now be seen by search engines’, since the default was set to the opposite. As it seems, one week after that, my blog is still hidden from search engines.

Hi. i recently received a mail from from help@wordpress saying “We recently discovered that an error in our system caused your site, We’ve updated for you so that search engines can now find it and include it in search results. But if you prefer to stay hidden from search engines, you can update your site’s visibility in your Settings.”

I’m trying to find my blog through google and I am not able to. Even if I type the the exact blog name the results lead nowhere.

My blog website: http://www.seleniteharmonizer.wordpress.com is also hidden from search engines even though my setting was ticked to be visible to search engines more than six weeks ago.

Yes, I have the same issue.

    Hi there!

Thank you @maximoskalpap for bringing this up.

Please note that after a website’s visibility setting is changed from private to public, it can take search engines 4-6 weeks to re-index it.

There are some things you can do to speed it up: https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Thank you @danieldanilov for your reply.

I decided not to use webmaster tools because of the following statement on wordpress.com:-

‘Please note that verifying your site in order to use the webmaster tools is not necessary in order for your site to be indexed with Google, Bing, or any other search engine. WordPress.com takes care of indexing your site and of all necessary SEO for you without your having to do anything at all (other than blog)! This is just an extra step you can take if you’d like to gather some additional information on your site traffic that might be of interest to you’.

It is supposed to take 4-6 weeks to get listed, however it has been 7 weeks and still no listing on search engines.

I think that the above statement is misleading and can harm the business prospects of someone starting out.

    Hi there @seleniteharmonizer!

The above statement quotes the standard time which can take search engines to re-index your site, however, the times can vary.

Extremely popular and active sites get caught within a couple of days and are displayed higher in the rankings.

New sites that does not produce a lot of content (and therefore can have weaker SEO) can take longer, sometimes longer than 6 weeks.

The statement is correct that you do not need to verify your site – it’s just an extra step. There are additional steps you can do to help your site appear in search engines quicker.

Work on increasing your traffic: http://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-more-views-and-traffic/

    And improve your SEO: https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/seo-on-wordpress-com/

Over time, your site will appear and be found in search engines, but it does require time. I hope this helps!

Thank you @ danieldanilov for your reply and links.

Having a small static site without a blog and social network activity seems to be the big disadvantage here, so I will have to concentrate on these.
