PROBLEM MAPPING GODADDY DOMAIN TO WORDPRESS.COM BLOG
URL: howiwastetime.com
I have changed the name servers and according to the Domain Helper, they are correct.
However, the DNS lookup returns the following:

Notice the “SERVFAIL” in the status line.”For a brief time, after changing the name servers, when I put the URL in an address bar I got a notice that “this site is temporarily unavailable.” After about an hour, instead of seeing that, I now get a “This webpage is not available” notice and the details say “The webpage at http://howiwastetime.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.”
It’s been about 12 hours. I know it can take up to 72, but is it that – or is it that I’ve done something wrong?
When I first checked my settings, wordpress.com said that URL was already mapped to a wordpress.com site – but I don’t think it was.
I have used several browsers and cleared the cache.
I had already bought the “site redirect” for $13/year. That’s what I need to get a GoDaddy domain to point to a wordpress.com blog, right?
Thanks.
The blog I need help with is howiwastetime.com.

Correction: it’s been 24 hours. I posted this 3/27 and it seems to have disappeared.
Domain Helper still says name server settings are correct.
HELP.

So, Site Redirect is actually the upgrade that you purchase when you want to point people away from a WordPress.com site (or from one WordPress.com site to another).
Domain Mapping is the upgrade you need to point a GoDaddy registered domain to your WordPress.com site.
I have made the switch for you and it should start working presently.

A HA!! Thank you so much!
I will keep watching for it to resolve fully. Can this ticket be left open until it does, just in case? Thank you!!

I just checked the Domain Helper and it says “Oops, No Primary Site Set
There is no primary domain set for howiwastetime.wordpress.com. This means that although howiwastetime.com will forward to the site, howiwastetime.com will appear in the browser address bar. To learn more about setting a primary domain, please see our documentation.”
Does this mean I am all set and don’t have to do anything else? I mean, did you switch Site Redirect to Domain Mapping, or did you remove Site Redirect and refund the payment, and now I need to buy Domain Mapping? I don’t see Site Redirect anymore so I assume you did the latter, but given what the Domain Helper said, I want to be sure. Thank you!

Or rather, not “refund” the $13 I already paid, but just change it over to the Domain Mapping fee.
Sorry I wish these posts could be edited!

Okay, that was very odd. I have reset everything back up again. You should be good to go now. I’m seeing howiwastetime.com point correctly to your WordPress.com site.
did you switch Site Redirect to Domain Mapping,
This is what I did. You were past the refund date for the site redirect, but the two upgrades are the same price and do very similar things, so it is no problem to switch between them.
My apologies for any hassle.

Oh no need to apologize! I really appreciate the fast help. It all appears to be working now correctly. THANK YOU!!!
