Problem of changing the username
-
I set up this website for my school homework. The user name of each of our students must be fixed, but I accidentally changed my user name. My university teacher said I couldn’t change my user name. Then I wanted to change back to my original user name specified by the school, but it was found that the original user name was occupied and can’t be changed back. What should I do?

When you changed your username, it was very clear said you could never change it back, “Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use.”, https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/

Hi there,
I can confirm what @staartmees said: username changes on WordPress.com cannot be reversed, so there’s no way to change back to your original username.
However, you can set a public display name that’s the same as your old username. If you set a display name, that’s what will appear on your site as the post author, instead of the username.
You can set a display name on your profile page:
