Problem referencing my own blog postings

  My posts frequently cite and link to some of my previous blog posts. I have used the Link tool in the Add New Post window to do this. It does work, BUT WordPress seems to treat this as a “pingback”, so I am getting dozens of pingbacks from my own links to my own posts. What this also means is that I get all these as both “comments” to deal with and as Email notices to my default Email address.

  Is there a way to include a link to my own posts without triggering pingbacks, redundant “comments”, etc.?
