Problem report

I want to report a problem with the WordPress editor

the new Beep Beep Boop “upgrade” breaks the use of the “code” shortcode. The code has characters such as < (less than) replaced by HTML entities. Fortunately reverting to “Classic mode” is still offered, and fixes this problem. But it should be fixed in the new editor.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just a note here to clarify that I do

      not

need any help with my blog. The “code” shortcode still works perfectly with the classic editor. It is only the “upgraded” editor which breaks use of this shortcode.

My error just above. I intended to underline the word “not”. “ul” markup was not the way to do it!

    Hi there,

I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem you’re describing with the code shortcode. Can you describe the exact steps you took in the new editor (starting from when you created the new post and including any buttons you clicked on while writing the post) that led to the HTML entities being added to your code?

That will help me reproduce the issue on my end so we can address it. :)

See new post at http://oneillp.wordpress.com/2014/08/19/code-shortcut-problem-example/ for an example with screenshots to illustrate the steps. Have also added a second problem noticed with the code button.

Used Chrome here to leave Firefox set to Classic mode, but the same problem when Firefox was used

Thanks for providing those detailed, illustrated steps. I was able to reproduce the issue using those steps, and I’ve reported this to our team so they can investigate the issue further.

    Hi Peter,

Our team launched a fix for the code shortcode, so the issues you mentioned should be resolved now. Please let me know if you have any further trouble with it!
